We Believe…

Spiritual Habits Church Website Banner …in harmony with our historic position, we believe the whole Bible, and only the Bible to be our infallible rule of faith and of practice; understanding our responsibility to make know the divine message of the Bible, we present the following articles of those basic truths taught in the Bible which are common to our Christian faith and practice.

The Bible:
We believe the Word of God, the sixty-six Books of the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired in all parts, and therefore, wholly without error as originally given of God.

The One True God:
We believe God exists eternally as three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The Lord Jesus Christ:
We believe Jesus is pre-existence and deity.  He is the incarnation of God by virgin birth.  He lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary death,  was raised from the grave, ascended into heaven, presently sits at the right hand of God the Father in Heaven interceding on our behalf, and will one day come again for his church.

The Holy Spirit:
We believe the Holy Spirit is a distinct personality but is unified as God and deity.   He is at work in the life of each believer, indwelling them at the moment of regeneration, and filling them to empower them for Christian life and service.

Man:  We believe mankind is a direct creation in the image of God.  He subsequently fell into sin resulting in spiritual death, and is in need of a new birth for his salvation.

Salvation:
We believe that complete and eternal salvation comes by God’s grace alone, is received as the gift of God through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and is His finished work on the Cross.

The Church:
We believe that there is one true church, the body and bride of Jesus Christ which is composed of all true believers of the present age.  We also believe in the organization of these members in local churches for worship, edification , fellowship and for world-wide gospel witness.  We believe that each local church should be autonomous but co-operating with other local fellowships of like faith.

Christian life:
We believe that the life of a follower of Christ includes a life of righteousness, good works, and separation unto God from the evil ways of the world.  We believe that to follow Christ is to follow the example of Jesus.  This means that a Christian maintains the sanctity of the home, settles differences between Christians in accordance with the Word of God, does not engage in carnal strife but shows a Christ-like attitude toward all men, exhibits the fruit of the Spirit, and maintains a life of prayer.

Ordinances:
We believe the Christian should observe the ordinances of our Lord Jesus Christ, which are (1) baptism of believers and (2) the Communion of the bread and cup.

Satan:
We believe that Satan exists and is an adversary of God and His people.  He will be judged and eventually damned.

Future Life:  We believe in the conscious existence of the dead, the resurrection of the body, the judgment and reward of believers, the judgment and condemnation of unbelievers, the eternal life of the saved, and the eternal punishment of the lost.
